Our Projects
The Gahanna Jaycees have several annual projects. A summary of these projects is listed below. Check out our calendar for project details.
CREEKSIDE BEER BOOTH -- The chapter provides manpower at a beer booth during the 3-day festival. You receive free admission to the festival and a free T-shirt.
ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY -- The chapter has adopted a 2-mile stretch of Route 62 from Morse Road to Clotts Road. We clean this area 4 times a year. Look for our signs on Route 62.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS -- The Gahanna Jaycees have a game booth at Tent Town during Special Olympics at OSU. We have a game in which every athelete is a winner! The athelete participates in Tent Town during the time between their competitions. We have run this project since the beginning of our chapter. This project is a very moving project for many members and it leaves you with \"warm fuzzies\".
RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE -- Twice a year we get together to cook dinner at the Ronald McDonald House families. There can be up to 60 family members attending. This event is definitely one the chapter members love to participate in.
FOOD BASKETS -- The Gahanna Jaycees adopt 4 families at Thanksgiving and Christmas. We collect non-perishable food items during a food drive at a local grocery store. We then deliver the food to the families. At Christmas, we also provide gifts to the families. This project is dedicated to Gahanna families.
COOKIES FOR ROOKIES -- On Christmas morning, we deliver cookies to the five fire stations in the Gahanna Area to thank those who are working that day for their dedication to the community. We also try to get together prior to Christmas morning to bake the cookies.
ALLSTATES -- The Allstates are quarterly meetings of the chapters in the Ohio Jaycees. At these meetings, there are forums for individual development; competitions; meetings; and an award ceremony with a celebration to follow. This is a great opportunity to meet Jaycees throughout Ohio and to learn skills to use in your personal and Jaycee life.
